Professional Development

Expanding the skills of mental health and addiction professionals

For more than 40 years, The Meadows trauma treatment program has been helping those struggling with emotional trauma to heal and learn the skills necessary to cope with the devastating, and often hidden, effects of trauma. Our intensive, professional development workshops, are designed to help mental health and addiction professionals gain additional skills and insights for effectively treating their clients.

Relational Trauma Repair (RTR): An Experiential Model for Treating Childhood Trauma and PTSD

Relational Trauma Repair is designed to fit into any treatment program clinic or one-to-one practice. It is a multi-sensory model that uses psychodrama, sociometry, journaling, and guided imagery in the treatment of trauma-related issues.

Mind & Heart: A Mindful Path to Wholehearted Living

The Mind & Heart workshop is a scientifically researched intervention that entails a mixture of highly informative material and experiential exercises using mindfulness and compassion.

Post-Induction Therapy (PIT) Training

Post-Induction Therapyvis designed to introduce a disease concept of developmental immaturity to counselors and therapists who work with codependency issues. The premise of PIT is that childhood trauma, including child abuse and neglect, is the origin of developmental immaturity. This intensive week-long course, developed solely for the formal training of therapists, focuses on Pia Mellody’s pioneering work in developing therapeutic techniques for identifying and treating the underlying trauma of most addictive and dysfunctional processes.

Advanced PIT Training: Inner Child & Feeling Reduction Training

The Advanced Post-Induction Training teaches participants to facilitate experiential trauma work, including both inner child and feeling reduction trauma work. The inner child work focuses on educating participants to teach their clients how to re-parent the wounded parts of self through nurturing, affirming, and limit setting. The feeling reduction work teaches participants to assist clients in detoxing negative childhood emotions and in releasing negative introjects from childhood relational trauma. Both areas of work assist the client in learning to love the self, as well as reducing the overall emotional reactivity in the present, allowing for enhanced relationships with others.
