Expressive Arts Therapy
Patients at Gentle Path at The Meadows engage in expressive arts therapy to express themselves through a variety of modalities, from painting to music therapy to psychodrama. Expressive arts therapy is an effective component in the recovery process, that empowers patients with their own unique voices.
Healing Through Art
Among the advantages of expressive arts therapy:
- Patients share their perceptions and viewpoints that might otherwise be difficult to express through more traditional therapies.
- Promoting a sense of freedom allows patients to unearth and dissect their inner feelings during the healing process.
- Using images to express their feelings may be easier than conveying these feelings in words.
